AIG REPAYING UNCLE SAM: American International Group Inc. is paying back nearly $4 billion in federal bailout money with proceeds from a debt sale at its aircraft leasing unit.
CREDIT LINE SHRINKS: The payment trims the balance AIG owes on its credit line with the Federal Reserve to $21 billion, including interest.
MORE OWED: As of June 30, excluding the new payment, AIG said its outstanding debt and equity balance owed to the government stood at about $101 billion. That's out of an initial bailout total of more than $182 billion.
